For some, selecting an outfit for a social gathering can be difficult and nerve-racking. Why is there so much anxiety? Is it because you're afraid of how people will see you based on what you wear? Yup, and it's absurd. Sadly, the clothes you choose to wear are the first things people notice. And unfortunately, that elementary school saying "don't judge a book by its cover" gets thrown out the window for most when they leave elementary school. A first impression has nothing to do with the grip of a handshake, compliments to the host, or pulling off a good joke. All that matters is that you don't show up to their event wearing gaucho pants, leggings under your dress, socks that show above your shoes (unless wearing boots, of course), crocs, or even worse, socks with sandals.
Even though it can be challenging due to the fear of being judged, it's important to wear what you want. It's an excellent way to express yourself. I do this all the time, and it's liberating! I wear my elephant onesie to the grocery store to indicate I'm hungry and that you should probably get out of my way, or I'll start a stampede. I wear a blanket like a robe while I pretend I'm walking through the corridors of Hogwarts school when in reality, I'm just strolling down the aisles of the movie theater, which shows you how vivid my imagination is! Being practical as well, I believe you should always bring a blanket to a movie theatre. It can get pretty frosty inside. Also, I prefer to wear my pajamas as my everyday clothes reciting "this is me now," which I stole from a Bob's Burgers episode, you know, the 'Beefsquatch' one.
So, screw those judgmental Grinches, there is no pleasing them anyway. Even if you were wearing the most expensive clothing, they would still judge. Although, I too question why someone would buy a Saint Laurent Relaxed Pocket T-shirt for $490 when you can get the same exact thing at H&M for 96% off the Saint Laurent price. Anyway, people will judge you, regardless of if you think your outfit is lit, Gucci, or snatched. You can't have the best of both worlds, no matter what Hannah Montana says, so just wear the socks with sandals, what can I say, it’s comfortable!
Nice job! These are important sentiments to remember when walking through life!
