Have you seen that new research about sugar? It's been all over the news! It's more addictive than cocaine, except for those who are already on cocaine, then it's an entirely different story. So, hey, I'm Zoe, and I am addicted to sugar. Chocolate chip cookies, Funfetti cake, apple pie, candy, mom's noodle kugel!
Just like those who like to end their day with a nice glass of wine or whatever substance they prefer, no judgment here; I want to settle down with a sweet treat; it's a reward. I'm telling myself, "Great job for making it through the day's obstacles! You survived!" Luckily, there is a 7-11 walking distance from my house, which means it's less than a 5-minute drive!
My 7-11 is like most others. The crazy woman with her shirt off is screaming at her reflection in the window. The youths ask you to buy them alcohol, and in return, you get to keep the change. The smell of urine from the homeless encampment in the back of the store. Oh, and we can't forget about the massive puddle of gross water in the parking lot that you have to jump over; what's that about. From how 7-11 presents itself here in America, it's hard to believe it's a billion-dollar company. Wouldn't you agree?
But then, you read that LA times article and somehow stumble upon a YouTube video of the girl in Japan who gets delectable meals from her local 7-11… or is that just me. Of course, 7-11 is a billion-dollar company if it supplies udon noodles with beef, steamed chicken, broccoli, and tofu bars. And get this, none of it is low quality! It's all carefully prepared, with love of course. Perhaps if America's 7-11's were more comparable to Japan's, then sugar addiction wouldn't be something to be concerned about. We would all be making our way to 7-11 for a balanced meal. I'd eat udon noodles any day!
😂 I support your addiction. i’m taking japanese rn and sensei says 7-11 is a popular date spot. うまい!
